I’m Vanessa, a self-taught home baker, born and raised in Miami, Florida, with Cuban and Dominican roots.
My father was a renowned chef in his day and a baker at heart. I remember him experimenting with different recipes and making huge messes in the kitchen—and I was usually the one cleaning them up! I guess after all those years, his love for creating in the kitchen stuck with me. I’ve always loved cooking, but baking became my true passion.
My cake journey began while I was pregnant with my first son. I had a theme in mind, but I couldn’t find a bakery that could make the cake I envisioned at a price I could afford. I asked my husband to take me to a cake supply store, and that’s where my journey began.
With the support of friends and family, I started making cakes occasionally and quickly realized how much I enjoyed customizing each creation. A few years ago, I decided to take my passion to another level—and today, Vany’s Cakes & Events allows me to create special memories for other families through cakes, sweets and celebrations.
